Piano Tuning / Pitch Raise

Every piano goes out of tune. There are many reasons why, but they all do. After awhile, the strings lose tention, the wood expands or contracts and tuning pins give away.
So having a routine tuning will always make sure your piano stays in tune, sounding it's best.
The normal tuning standard is A440. That means the A key in the middle of the piano, usually called A4, is tuned at 440 Mhz (440 vibrations per second). Then each string is tuned realtive to that key.
It's a very complex system of measuring, listening, and stabalizing each string. If your piano has not been tuned for awhile, it will need a pitch correction, or pitchraise. This is where each of the strings is brought up or down to the tention of A440 before a stable tuning can be maintained.
The longer a piano sits out of tune, the more work it will require

Regulation, General Maintenance, and Touch Weight Control

Regulation refers to the alignment, feel, and effeciency of the keys (piano action). After years of use, the piano action will lose it's regulation, and it will feel odd to play, i.e. too heavy, doesn't repeat well or sticking keys.
Giving your piano a routine maintainence check-up will ensure each of the levers, wood parts, hammers, keys and leather are all working properly.
Touch Weight Control refers the feel of the action under your fingers, and making it consistent across the whole keyboard. Whether you like your piano light and quick, or heavy and strong! It can all by designed around your personal preference, depending on the quality of your piano.

Rebuilding and Repairs

I offer complete restoration services for most types of pianos. After years of wear and tear, pianos can slowly fade into a superfluous life of salvage. But pianos are build to last 80 to 100 years or more with the proper care.
The same techniques and woods that are used to make pianos today were used over 100 years ago. Not alot has changed in pianos over the years.
Some would argue that pianos from a certain era, i.e. 1920's, are BETTER then todays standards. So you might consider rebuilding that piano to give it new life.
I can replace and repair soundboards, pinblocks, strings, keys, actions parts, cabinet parts,... whatever you need.

Humidity Control

The most dangerous element to the piano is humidity. Constantly changing the humidity around the piano can cause very serious damage to the wood fibers that make up 90% of the piano. Excessive conditions will cause cracks in the soundboard or tuning pinblock, tuning instablity, bad glue joints, and much more. Special systems can be installed on your piano to help control the humidity directly around the piano.
Dampp-Chaser offers many different products to help you maintain those proper conditions.

Appraisals and Estimates

If you are looking to sell your piano, or purchacing a new one, I will be able to give you a fair-market value, or an over-all idea of how much the piano is worth.
With todays world of internet selling like ebay or craigslist, there are a lot of pianos out there that LOOK fine, but inside could need alot of work. Be skeptical when buying a piano from these sites.
I am available to give the piano an inspection before you buy, and can help give you a better idea of whether it's worth your investment.
